5 Air Indian Pilots Test COVID-19 Positive 5 Days Ago Trip To China
Five pilots an engineer and a technician of Air India have tested positive for the novel coronavirus officials said on Sunday, 10 May.
One of India’s biggest evacuation exercises amid the coronavirus lockdown was launched on 7 May, with several Air India express flight leaving the country to bring back stranded Indians across the would. out of these, two flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi landed in Kerala on 7 May.
The phased rescue-op started from 7 May and the airlines are expected to operate 64 flights in the first week to bring back around 15,000 Indians.
On Sunday, which is day 4, around 1,850 Indians will be flown from Doha to Trivandrum, Singapore, Washington, and Abu Dhabi.
As many as 5 Air Indian Pilots have tested positive for coronavirus. As per reports, the pilots were found infected during the routire preflight test that is carried out 72 hours before they are rostered for the flight duties.
All the pilots are Bassed in Mumbai and are reportedly asymptomatic. They had undertaken cargo flights to China, Air India sources have told news agency ANI.
One technician and one engineer working at AIR India have also tested positive for coronavirus.
“Five AIR India pilots have tested positive for coronavirus. this pilot was tested one after one. we suspect it could be a case of the faulty testing kit as well, ” one of the sources told PTI. the five pilots fly Boeing 787 planes, the second source said.
AIR India spokesperson did not offer any comment.
